We recognise that not everyone who visits our site will be a Christian, or may consider themselves as a Christian in the cultural sense, but not the biblical sense.  That's why here we would like to define what a Christian actually is, and how a person becomes a Christian.

But I am not a sinner!

There are many who when confronted with the statement that everyone is a sinner and the penalty for that sin is an eternity in hell when they die is the statement above.  However, using the Bible as the authority on Christianity, and the issue of whether you are a sinner or not, check out these, the ten commandments:

'You shall have no other gods before Me.'

'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'

'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'

'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'

'Honor your father and your mother.'

'You shall not murder.'

'You shall not commit adultery.'

'You shall not steal.'

'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'

'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'

Therefore, if you broken even just ONE of these commandments - you ARE a sinner.  However, its not all doom and gloom, because God has provided a fantastic gift of salvation and an eternity in heaven! Check out the next section to the right!

Why would I be a Christian?

The answer to this is simple.  When God created the earth it wasn't long before sin entered in at the garden of Eden.  The price for sin is death and an eternity in hell.  However, because of God's love for His creation, He wanted to do something to provide a way out of going to hell.  As a result, He sent His Son, Jesus, to earth as a human, who would then die in our place to pay the penalty for our sin.  Jesus took upon Himself the penalty for everything we have done wrong.  However, that's not the end of the story.  Jesus then raised from the dead and is now alive in Heaven, and we still have a part to play in receiving that gift of an eternity in heaven.

How do I become a Christian?

It's a simple thing to become a Christian.  And it's not "becoming religious" but actually entering into a real relationship with a real, living God!

1. You firstly need to acknowledge that you are a sinner, that you have done wrong things, and you are sorry for those things.

2. You need to accept that Jesus paid the price for your sin on the cross and rose again on the third day, and is now with God in heaven.

3.  You need to accept the gift of salvation that Jesus gives, and ask Him to come into Your life and to be Your Lord and Saviour.

4.  You then need to get yourself plugged into a good church so that you can grow as a Christian and be nurtured.

Here is a simple prayer you can pray to become a Christian:

"Jesus, I know I have sinned and I am sorry for that sin.  Thank you that You paid the price for my sin on the cross and are now alive in heaven. Jesus I want to serve You and ask You to come into my heart and into my life, baptise me with Your Holy Spirit and make me a new person.  In Jesus' Name. Amen"

If you pray this prayer, it's important that you tell someone you know that is a Christian so that they can help you further.  Please also contact us to let us know!
